Church School
The mission of the King’s Chapel Church School is to provide a religious foundation for the children and youth of our congregation. We also seek to support families in nurturing the faith and religious identity of their children, and to provide a space for warm and meaningful fellowship. We do this through family worship, religious education, and outreach to the community.
The Family Service in the Little Chapel is celebrated two Sundays a month from September to May, and is accessible to children of all ages and their families, though everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us. The liturgy draws mainly from the King’s Chapel prayerbook so that children and youth come to learn the prayers and traditions reflected in the Sunday Morning Prayer liturgy. Each Family Service includes singing, a Bible reading, a short story or homily, and a time for us as a community to lift up our thanks and our concerns. Holy Communion is offered four times during the Church School year. Please contact our Church School Director, Shannon Lee, if you would like to receive the schedule of our Family Services.
Our religious education program is based upon our heritage as Unitarian Christians. We are grounded in biblical wisdom and Christian identity yet free to exercise the individual use of reason to seek our own truth. From this perspective, we strive to nurture in our children and youth the seed of a curious and questioning faith, in the hope that their faith will continue to grow throughout their lives. Church School classes for preschoolers, elementary-age children, and middle and high school youth are offered immediately following the Family Service in the Little Chapel, during Morning Prayer, from September to May. Please contact Shannon Lee if you would like to receive the schedule of our Church School classes, or if you have questions.
