Register now for a new pilgrimage to explore shared Unitarian religious beliefs and historical traditions. King's Chapel is invited to participate with fifteen partner churches in Transylvania, in Romania, for 8 days in July 2018. Join Joy and Bob Fallon, Kathe German, Denton Crews and others for discussions, tours, and learning, as we celebrate the 450th anniversary of religious tolerance in Europe, brought about by the earliest Unitarians. The Rev. Roger Berchausen, Executive Director of the UUA Partner Church Council, and a planner of the conference, will share more detailed information about the pilgrimage, and answer our questions, at a special meeting on Wednesday, November 8 at 7:15 PM at the Parish House. Dinner will be provided. RSVP to administrator@kings-chapel.org The itinerary for the trip includes lectures, panel discussions, small group conversations and spiritual practices coupled with special programs and tours to historical sites. The Roots Pilgrimage, beginning late in the day on July 9 and ending July 17, will start and end in Kolozsvár (Romanian name: Cluj). After a visit to the Verespatak (Rosia Montana) gold mining area, pilgrims will settle in Aranyosszék (Scaunul Ariesului), the Aranyos (Aries) River valley area forty-five minutes southwest of Kolozsvár. This is an important region in Transylvanian Unitarianism. The trip is expected to be both a ministerial and partner church visit opportunity for King's Chapel. The cost of the pilgrimage for North Americans is $875 for double occupancy rooms including meals, local transportation, and all events; airfare is separate. There is also a $150 registration fee. Deadline for registration is March 15, and advance registration is December 1. For more information, please contact Denton Crews, KC Partner Church Committee chair, at 617-227-0363 or dentoncrews@rcn.com. Interested parishioners will receive a packet of pilgrimage materials including a flyer, an itinerary, FAQs, and links to web sites for the pilgrimage and the year-long celebration of Torda 450.
