The King’s Chapel Communications and Events Manager is the principal marketing official of the Society of King’s Chapel, the King’s Chapel Freedom Trail Program, and the King’s Chapel Music Concerts. The Manager also is the primary staff person managing events hosted by these.
The incumbent will report to the Chief of Staff and have a dotted line responsibility to the Executive Team. This is a full time, benefited position.
Responsibilities - Communications The incumbent will control and create all communications including strategic communications, and social, paid and earned media and marketing.
Produce and manage the implementation of a Marketing and Communications Plan with input from the Executive Team.
Coordinate outreach to media through press releases, local calendars, and social media.
Create, curate and manage the production of content (written, photos, video, etc.) in ongoing communication vehicles, including the weekly e-news Between Sundays, the KC website, the weekly worship orders of service, signage, social media, and event invitations.
Create clear, consistent messages to the church members and to external constituencies.
Coordinate with volunteers to create materials including letters, invitations, posters and other materials as needed.
Ensure there is a consistent visual and communicated brand throughout all materials.
Regularly monitor and evaluate success of different modes of communication, and implement needed changes.
Responsibilities – Events
In next year, visit and know every major Beacon Hill and Back Bay community organization to identify potential areas for joint programming.
Recommend to Executive Team, and develop additional effective programs to make King’s Chapel more known and accessible to the Boston Community, with emphasis of the areas of Beacon Hill and Back Bay proximate to the church properties.
Oversee all logistical set up of ongoing and new events hosted by King’s Chapel on King’s Chapel properties (at the church sanctuary, the parish house and parsonage), including tasteful room set up, audio-visual needs, and food and beverage needs.
Work collaboratively with other staff on special liturgical services, concerts or historical events, to enable smooth execution of the programs, by arranging rehearsals, creating instructional materials for volunteers, etc.
B.A. or equivalent work experience in communications, marketing or related field.
High aptitude for visual design, graphic arts, photography, and using social and multimedia communications to advance our mission.
Outstanding communications skills, with ability to market to a variety of audiences.
Superb organization skills, with ability to create efficient systems for regularly repeated programming.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and can manage projects independently.
High proficiency with social media and commitment to keep current with knowledge and understanding.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Work may require occasional evening and weekend work for special services or events. Minimum 2 years professional experience.
