Freedom Trail Program
Tory Stories from Harborfest 2012
King's Chapel is on Boston's Freedom Trail, along with 15 other stops, including the Old South Meeting House, the Paul Revere House, Faneuil Hall, Old North Church (our daughter church), and the USS Constitution. The church is located at the corner of School and Tremont Streets in downtown Boston, across School Street from the Omni Parker House Hotel. Over the long years of King's Chapel history (we were founded in 1686), our attendees have included famous names like George Washington, Paul Revere, Benjamin Franklin, and John Hancock, Royal Governors Hutchinson and Shirley, Oliver Wendell Holmes and Holmes Junior, Louisa May Alcott, Robert Gould Shaw, and many more.
Visitors of all ages and origins are welcome in King's Chapel and will have the opportunity to explore our Church building during visiting hours. We have a self-guided tour brochure available to our visitors to help to guide them around the building and friendly guides who are more than happy to answer any questions.
King’s Chapel is a very busy place – in addition to the Group Educational Tours and the Bell and Bones Tours we have an active congregation of Unitarian Christians and offer services Wednesdays at 12:15 p.m. and Sundays at 11:00 a.m., and concerts Tuesdays at 12:15 p.m. These are open to the public, as well, but we ask that visitors attend the service or concert and do not tour the building during these times. Because we are an active Church, irregular services (weddings, funerals, memorial services, etc.) occasionally cause the Church to be closed to the public.
There is no admission fee, but donations are appreciated to help with the maintenance of our 326 year old building.
