This past Saturday night, Heinrich got together with his composer and videographer friend Graham Gordon Ramsay and recorded a series of videos of new music after dark. Check out the spookiness here: Heinrich’s comments: Back in the early days of quarantine, Graham started to send me these miniatures, one by one as he was writing them. To me, they seem a very apt musical representation of the strange times we are experiencing. And it has been oddly cathartic to learn and live with them as we transitioned from spring to summer with all the uncertainty of when we can return to any kind of normal life, and what exactly that might look like, especially for making music together. Since the Introspections were written in the dark, we aimed for a nocturnal vibe in the videos. Here is what Graham wrote about their inception: Introspections for Organ is a collection of short movements, composed out of my need to process feelings about the very troubling times we are all experiencing during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, and concurrent global social and political unrest.
