Prayerbook Collect

Almighty God, give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness, and put upon us the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which thy Son Jesus Christ came to us in great humility; that, like him, we may rise to life immortal; and this we ask through him who liveth and reigneth with thee for ever. Amen.

Give Hope

Many nonprofits and organizations do work that boils down to giving people hope, including King's Chapel's community partners. Choose one of the following ways to support them to give more hope in the world:

 Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry:

Throughout the pandemic, the UU Urban Ministry has been working closely with Roxbury-based artists of color to amplify their artistry and to help them mitigate the pandemic's economic effects. The Urban Ministry is leveraging their space and resources, asking artists, "what do you need to weather this time?" And they need our help to respond nimbly to these requests. Your gift to the Urban Ministry (with "Art" in the comment section) supports virtual galleries, artist stipends, and more.

For more information, visit the UUUM Artist Spotlight webpage.

Additionally, the UUUM is supporting Roxbury independent artists of color this holiday season. Shop local and use this directory the UUUM has assembled as a resource for artists and people who would like to support their practices!

common cathedral Ecclesia Ministries:
Help our unhoused neighbors by donating items they will need to survive another Boston winter on the streets. Our friends at common cathedral are seeking coats, new socks, sweatshirts, sweaters, pants, hats, gloves, handwarmers, blankets, and sleeping bags.

Items will need to be delivered to the Cathedral Church of St. Paul at 138 Tremont Street, Boston. Delivery dates are Wednesday, December 9 or Wednesday, January 20 from 1-4pm. Due to COVID-19 protocols, all donated items must sit untouched for 48 hours before the common cathedral team can sort and organize them before giving them out the following Saturdays.

Louis D. Brown Peace Institute:
The LDBPI developed a new, extensive Re-Entry Program to support incarcerated men recently released from the Plymouth County House of Corrections. As a way to help these men successfully reintegrate back into the community, the Peace Institute is seeking donations to help cover the cost of a re-entry kit, backpacks filled with sundry items such as masks, toiletries, and other items that will be of immediate need.

The cost of each backpack is $20. If you're able to help, please send a check made out to King's Chapel by Sunday, December 20th. In the memo line include "LDBPI ReEntry Kits."
