We acknowledge that King’s Chapel is located on the ancestral and unceded lands of the Massachusett People, whose very name was appropriated as the name of our Commonwealth.
We were once accepted as guests and honest traders on this land.
We covenanted with the Massachusett People, and we broke that covenant by responding to their honesty and hospitality with hostility and violence.
We honor the people who were here before colonization, who are here now, and who will be here in the future. We seek to expand the visibility of and celebrate the histories, cultures, and stories of Indigenous peoples, who are of this place.
In the love of truth, we acknowledge the violence perpetrated in the colonization of our country. In the spirit of Jesus Christ, we undertake the work of repair.
