In my role on Buildings and Grounds I think of stewardship not exclusively for the benefit of King’s Chapel, but for the benefit of the larger community that values historical design and materials, and association with historic places. I have made my living, in part, through the restoration and redevelopment of historic structures. I served for some years as Chair of the Boston Landmarks Commission. I try to bring both those experiences to bear in the preservation of the church properties.
I came to King’s Chapel in 1990 looking for a Sunday School for my kids, and ended up teaching the youngest Sunday School class for eleven years. I found an intellectual home for myself as well. I tell my friends that King’s Chapel has more PhDs per pew than your average parish…. And then there is Heinrich (Christensen)’s music. I don’t have to tell you about Heinrich’s music. |
