Final Stop: The Site of the First Public School
Behind King’s Chapel stood the original site of the Boston Latin School, until 1745 when the school building was torn down to make way for the new stone King’s Chapel. The school has continued in different locations, currently located in the Fenway neighborhood.

Historical sketch of the original Boston Latin School, founded in 1635. Several King's Chapel members attended the school, such as Charles Bulfinch, Rev. James Freeman, Samuel Gridley Howe, Perez Morton, and Charles Sumner.
Thank you!
